Christy Grimshaw was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, on 8 November 1995 and developed as a player at Deeside and Aberdeen, with whom she made her debut in the Scottish Premier League in 2013. In 2014, she moved to the US to attend Barry University and played Division II college football, scoring 31 goals in 65 matches over the course of four years. After her graduation, she returned to Europe and joined Metz, netting twice in 13 matches in a season that was brought to a halt by Covid-19. Grimshaw signed for AC Milan in the summer of 2020 and immediately made a positive impression in midfield, finding the net twice in 20 appearances to help the team secure a historic qualification to the Women's Champions League. Over the years she became a key role model inside and outside the changing room, for teammates and fans alike. As of June 2024, she has scored 11 goals, making 99 appearances for the Rossonere, more than any other foreign female player in AC Milan history. Thanks to her performances in Italy, she was also capped by the Scottish national team (12 appearances and two goals as of June 2024). She was made captain of AC Milan at the start of the 2024/25 season.
