    MASSIMO ODDO'S PLAYING CAREER

Massimo Oddo was born in Pescara on 14 June 1976. The son of long-time Serie C footballer Francesco - who also had a career as a coach from the 1980s up to 2005, Massimo started playing with Renato Curi and then moved to AC Milan. Most comfortable in the right-back position (though also able to play as a centre-back), he particularly excelled at set pieces. After two seasons with the Rossoneri's Primavera side, he made his professional debut with Fiorenzuola in 1995/96. Following spells at Prato, Lecco and Monza, he got his first big move in 1999/20 when he joined Napoli and starred as the Partenopei won promotion to Serie A. A two-year stint at Hellas Verona then followed (67 appearances and 11 goals) as he spent his first season in the top flight. He then moved to the capital to join Lazio, where he stayed from 2002 to 2007, winning the Coppa Italia and making his debut in European football. His performances earned him a spot in the Italy set-up, and he was part of the Azzurri's 2006 World Cup-winning squad in Germany. After 172 appearances and 17 goals for the Biancocelesti, in January 2007, he returned to AC Milan and was part of the Rossoneri side that were crowned European champions in Athens. His time with the Rossoneri, which also included triumphs in the European Supercup, Club World Cup and a Scudetto, was punctuated by a good season in Germany with Bayern München. He called time on his playing career at the end of the 2011/12 season, which he spent with Lecce.

MASSIMO ODDO'S CAREER AS A COACH

Massimo Oddo's first experience as a coach came with Genoa as the coach of their Allievi Regionali (U16). In 2014, he returned to his hometown of Pescara to take charge of the Biancazzurri's Primavera. His first experience in charge of a first team was at the end of the 2014/15 season in Serie B when he replaced Marco Baroni at the helm for Pescara. He took the Delfini all the way to the play-off final, but they were beaten by Bologna. His first taste of promotion came the following season: after a 4th-place finish, Oddo's Pescara qualified for the play-offs and beat Novara and Trapani to make it back to Serie A. His first spell in the top flight, however, was not a fortunate one as he was relieved of his duties in February 2017 with the Delfini bottom of the league. In November 2017, he was appointed by Udinese and began on a roll with five straight wins in December, but he departed the club in April due to a string of subpar results. After seven games with Crotone in Serie B in 2018, he took charge of Padova in 2022. He won the Serie C Coppa Italia with the Venetian outfit and reached the play-off final, losing to Palermo. In February 2023, he moved to SPAL in Serie B but was unable to save them from relegation to Serie C. Before moving to Milan Futuro in February 2025, he had another spell at Padova, with whom his campaign finished in the second play-off round against Vincenza.
