Malick was born in Düsseldorf on 8 August 2001 to a Senegalese father and a Finnish mother. He started his career in 2009 with Fortuna Düsseldorf, before moving within the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen to Bayer Leverkusen and then Borussia Mönchengladbach. His arrival at Schalke in 2015 was the final step ahead of his move to AC Milan. Standing at 194cm and weighing in at 80kg, he is a physical player, perfectly suited to his role: he is headstrong, agile, tough and has a good character.
After a few months of setting in, his debut came on 16 October 2022, in the final minutes of Hellas Verona 1-2 AC Milan. Malick established himself with authoritative and consistent performances in the second half of the 2022/23 season. Out of his first 24 appearances for AC Milan, 20 arrived from February onwards, a month that saw him win the MVP award thanks to the votes of the Rossoneri fans. During this period, four starts for Malick coincided with four clean sheets, the highlight being his excellent displays in the Champions League against Harry Kane’s Tottenham. At international level, after rising through the youth ranks and winning the European Under-21 Championship in 2021, his performances for the Rossoneri led to his debut with the senior German national team in a friendly against Poland on 16 June 2023
