Sérgio Conceição's first managerial appearance came in 2012 as he took charge of Olhanense in Portugal. He secured survival for the club, but resigned in January 2013 before taking charge of Académica, his first club as a player. Staying in Portugal, in 2014 he moved to Braga, achieving a fourth place finish in the Primeira Liga and qualification for the Europa League. In 2016, he moved to France to manage Nantes, lifting them up the table from the lower echelons to secure safety in Ligue 1. In 2017, he returned to Porto, where he quickly became a winner, and the coach with the most victories for the Dragões. Until 2024, he experienced great success both domestically and internationally, consistently competing at a high level domestically and internationally winning three league titles, four Portuguese Cups, three Portuguese Supercups and a Portuguese League Cup. In the summer of 2024, he ended his contract with Porto, and on December 30, he officially signed with AC Milan.
