    SERIE A

The standout signing of the summer was Zlatan Ibrahimović, but the activity didn't stop there: Massimiliano Allegri became the Rossoneri's new Head Coach, with Robinho and Boateng joining the Club, too. Over the course of the transfer window, several departures were announced: Dida, Kaladze, Huntelaar and Borriello were among some of the names. Despite a 4-0 win over Lecce on the opening day, results were inconsistent in the early part of the campaign. At the beginning of November, though, a turning point came when AC Milan changed formation, from 4-3-3 to 4-3-1-2. After beating Palermo 3-1 on matchday 11, the Rossoneri climbed to the top of the table and remained there until the end. Ronaldinho's departure in the winter transfer market was the big news. The second half of the season, though, was breathtaking with notable wins over Napoli (3-0), Juventus (0-1) and Inter in the derby, winning 3-0 thanks to a Pato brace and one from Cassano. The crowning moment came at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, as a 0-0 draw against the Giallorossi was enough to seal the title with two games to spare. AC Milan were Champions of Italy for the 18th time in their history.

    CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Placed in the first pot, AC Milan kicked off their Champions League campaign in style, defeating Auxerre 2-0 at San Siro, in a match that saw Zlatan Ibrahimović score his first two goals for the Rossoneri. This was followed by a draw away to Ajax and a defeat in Madrid against Real. Redemption against Mourinho's Madrid came in the return leg with a 2-2 draw, which featured Filippo Inzaghi's last two goals in the top European competition. Progression to the next round was secured with a 2-0 away win against Auxerre, with goals from Ibrahimović and Ronaldinho. However, the Rossoneri's journey ended in the round of 16. They lost 1-0 at San Siro to Tottenham, courtesy of a late Crouch goal, and despite Allegri's team's best efforts, they could only manage a 0-0 draw in the return leg in London.
