AC MILAN 2013/14 ROSTER

SERIE A

Kaká's return and Kevin-Prince Boateng's departure were the headlines of the Summer transfer window in 2013. The first months of the season came and went with little satisfaction, and a good run came at the start of 2014 with Kaká reaching 100 goals for the Rossoneri. A few days later, the Club decided to make a change in the dugout to shake up the campaign: Tassotti came in temporarily for Allegri before the role was given to Clarence Seedorf. Despite the Dutch coach's debut win and goals from Honda and Taarabt, amongst others, fluctuating results also defined the second half of the season. Eliminations from the Coppa Italia and Europe were met with the right response and a string of positive results in Serie A, especially in the run-in. At the end of the season, it was goal difference alone that denied the Rossoneri Europe League qualification: 8th in the standings saw AC Milan out of Europe altogether. The epilogue of the season is also remembered for the opening of Casa Milan, the new Club HQ.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

The Rossoneri campaign began with the playoff double-header against PSV Eindhoven, which AC Milan won 4-1 on aggregate after a brilliant 3-0 win at San Siro with a Boateng brace and goal from Balotelli. The first half of the season was partially positive for Allegri's side, who struggled to perform consistently in the league but closed out their UCL group in second behind Barcelona and ahead of Ajax and Celtic, especially thanks to doing the double over the Scots. The journey in Europe came to an end in the round of 16 against Atlético Madrid: we registered a narrow defeat in the final moments of the first leg before being level after a hard-fought opening 45 of the second leg, but Simeone's squad went on to bag another 2 goals in the final 20 minutes.
