PRIMAVERA COME BACK AGAINST CESENA: 1-1

Underwhelming first half and a fighting second, Perrucci's penality levelled up Perini's opener

A point apiece for AC Milan and Cesena on matchday 6 of the Primavera 1 campaign. Perhaps the draw was unexpected but the Rossoneri responded to the guests' opener, scored by Perini, with a penalty from Vincenzo Perrucci that made it 1-1. It seemed like a day all out of shape, especially with the underwhelming first half and few chances for either side, though the opener came from a set piece. Despite not putting in a brilliant performance, Guidi's Primavera managed to react after going behind to come back for a draw in the second half thanks to a penalty won and converted by our number 7.

Though the final push didn't bring much for AC Milan, the spirit and attitude in the second half recalled our convincing start to the season. The Rossoneri, who also hit the woodwork through captain Stalmach, were regularly in the opposition half and would have deserved a bit more luck but the visitors were just too organised in defence. In general, a slow pace defined the entire 90 minutes at the PUMA House of Football as Ibrahimović, Vergine and Bonera watched on. The next stop will be on Sunday 6 October with the game away to Bologna.

MATCH REPORT
Proceedings started off balanced but without many chances. Things got going around the quarter-hour mark as Cesena got the first chance, Manetti tried a shot from distance but didn't trouble Mastrantonio before the Rossoneri attempted a long shot of their own through Sala in the 17th minute. In the 24th minute, the visitors opened the scoring as Castorri put in a long ball and Perini headed home to make it 1-0. AC Milan tried to react down the left but a powerful Perera shot in the 27th minute flew over the crossbar and several other attempts were closed down well by the Emiliani. As the first 45 drew to a close, we went close as Velaij stopped Scotti - caught offside - before no one picked up a Stalmach ball. Into the break.

We made three changes for the second half. The Rossoneri started well, Stalmach smacked the post with a low shot in the 49th minute whilst in the 54th minute, he picked out Ossola who shot well but was stopped by a brilliant Veliaj who sent it out for a corner. AC Milan pinned Cenesa back in their own half but struggled to capitalise going forward, Scotti and Bonomi were blocked in the 65th and 68th minutes. We needed something and that something came in the 71st minute: Perrucci closed down Valentini in the box and won the penalty, Veliaj went the right way but that wasn't enough to stop the 1-1. The Rossoneri kept pushing with Paloschi trying one in the 81st minute, the visitors also had a chance through Coveri in the 83rd but Mastrantonio saved. The final push didn't bring anything else for the Diavolo, it ended 1-1.
