DEFEAT TO FROSINONE FOR THE PRIMAVERA

The Rossoneri start the girone di ritorno with a 3-0 defeat

Sometimes, the worst things come in threes. AC Milan Primavera fell to a 3-0 defeat to Frosinone in spite of a generally tenacious and combative display. Hunger alone wasn't enough though, and this is now a second consecutive game without scoring for the young Rossoneri. Scoring is the only way to rake in the points but our Primavera haven't rattled the back of the net in almost a month. Despite not creating much, and we have to underline that marked improvement is needed in attack, the Rossoneri did let a huge chance go begging, which would have seen them get back into the game. The rule of the ex was also at play today as Condello, who played for our Under-18s, scored two and drew the foul for the penalty.

But it wasn't all doom and gloom. The team communicated well and kept plugging away even after conceding. They started the second half especially well, a testament to the fact that we have here a united group that is committed to getting out of this rut. Against Frosinone, who are - we would be remiss not to mention - second in the table, we saw the boys play with a great attitude, which should be cause to not get too downhearted. The results will come; we just need to be patient. The girone di ritorno has only just begun and it's a quick turnaround as, on Wednesday at 16:00 CET, AC Milan host Sampdoria at the PUMA House of Football.

MATCH REPORT
Frosinone started strongly, imposing a high tempo on the game, and created a series of early chances. In the fifth minute, Condello sent an acrobatic effort just wide before, three minutes later, Mulattieri's long-range effort grazed the corner of the frame of the goal. AC Milan, who were struggling, broke out; in the 15th minute, El Hilali drew a save from Palmisani. Nsiala was then denied following a good team move (19'). A goal was in the air and the hosts got it in the 25th minute when Afi sent the ball into the box and Condello, who got away from his marker, stuck it home. Nava kept a timid effort from Afi out on the half-hour mark and then El Hilali had a huge chance to bring the Rossoneri level. In the 32nd minute, he received the cross from Bartesaghi but his shot on the volley was deflected wide. In the 39th minute, Longhi had a go but his effort was underhit and not an issue for the Frosinone's keeper. Selvini, however, was ice-cool and doubled the Canarini's lead from the penalty spot (44'); Condello had broken free and was brought down in the box by Paloschi. A tough blow to take just before half time.

The second half began and the Rossoneri looked like an entirely different team. They were pushing hard and, in the 48th minute, went close through an El Hilali free-kick that struck the crossbar. The hosts were still dangerous; Afi (51') and Selvini (55') both had chances but couldn't get enough on it. Enter Alesi. His substitution changed things for Abate's side. Palmisani did well to deny attempts from Cuenca (61') and El Hilali (63'), and then made another save in the 71st minute, this time to deny Sia, though the attempt was straight at the Giallazzurri goalie. With that chance spurned, the hosts regained confidence and almost added a third through Pera (72'). Frosinone did get their third; in the 81st minute, Condella wrapped up his brace. Jirillo played him in and he coolly stuck it past Nava. Though there was, by now, no chance for a comeback, the Rossoneri kept at it and came close through Scotti (deflected behind) and Alesi (saved). Full time, 3-0.
