UNDER 16, HEADS HELD HIGH AFTER SECOND PLACE FINISH

AS Roma win the Scudetto in Ascoli, but only congratulations for Abate's Rossoneri

Hold your heads high, boys. After an outstanding season, the AC Milan Under-16 team have just missed out on putting the cherry on top of the cake, after Roma won the Scudetto title in extra-time, thanks to Manuel Nardozi's goal. The game was a close affair that could have gone either way until Nardozi's header turned the game in the opposition's favour.

It was such a shame, with some regret and tears among the upset faces of our players, but the game in Ascoli, however, was a great experience. At this age, it is all about individual and collective growth rather trophies. Finishing first in the league, getting through three knock-out stages, and playing for the Scudetto title, it has been an unbelievable season for Coach Abate and his young guns, who deserve only our applause and congratulations.

Back to the game at Stadio Del Duca and the young Rossoneri lacked only a goal. Having had the best attack in the league all season, centre-forward Diego Sia and company were unable to find the back of the net to change the course of the title up for grabs. It was Diego who had the best chances. And at the death, it just wasn't to be as bad luck played its part in Magni's strike at goal.

In the end,it's a second-placed finish full of value, meaning and hard work. If the players' emotions are still raw at the moment, in looking back at what could have been, the overall picture will soon become clearer, and the young boys will look back and realise just what they have achieved this season, regardless of the final verdict from the field of play. We are so proud of you, Under-16s. Have a great summer and see you in 2022/2023.
