WOMEN, ROMA v AC MILAN: MATCH PREVIEW

The Rossonere away to the reigning Italian champions: the lowdown on the clash

After the 1-0 victory over Sampdoria, after three consecutive wins and before the international break. Roma v AC Milan is undoubtedly a big clash, especially considering the strength of the opposition and the current situation in the league. Three points away to the reigning Italian champions would be a huge boost to the Rossonere, who have got into their stride. At 16:00 CEST on Sunday 20 October, a fascinating Women's Serie A clash is set to take place at the Tre Fontane. Here is our Match Preview to introduce it.

LATEST FROM THE PUMA HOUSE OF FOOTBALL
Beating Samp was necessary, but certainly not a given. And the scoreline ended up being close at the PUMA House of Football, even if the 1-0 victory didn't fully reflect the Rossonere's dominance and good play. The team undoubtedly need to find more of a clinical edge in front of goal, both in general and in the short term, especially as it'll probably prove harder to create chances in Rome. AC Milan currently occupy fourth place with ten points. It means that they're currently in a Championship Round position, even if the table is very tight at the moment. There won't be many changes to the team, who now need to keep on pushing.

Coach Bakker had this to say on the eve of our trip to Rome: "The match against Roma is an opportunity to understand our level of growth; we want to finish this first cycle of games in the best way possible."

LATEST FROM ROMA
The Italian champions from 2022/23 and 2023/24 have made a surprisingly slow start to the league season. Indeed, they've drawn half their games and lost 2-1 to Juventus in Turin last time out (Glionna with a late consolation goal). Although they need to tighten up defensively, the Giallorosse have generally performed well and been very strong in attack, with their 6-1 win away to Galatasaray in the Champions League earlier this week being testament to this. In Europe, Roma are top of their group on maximum points, and they’ll no doubt be fired up as they look to find consistency domestically. From Ceasar to Viens, they'll line up in a well-drilled 4-3-3 formation.

"Against AC Milan, we need to repeat what we did in Turkey," said Coach Spugna. "We'll try to play the best team possible, bearing in mind fitness levels."
