FIORENTINA CHASE DOWN THE ROSSONERE

Ijeh opened the scoring, Bredgaard and Boquete bagged the Viola win: 1-2 at the PUMA House of Football

The Rossonere remain winless. After the 0-1 defeat in the opener against Como, AC Milan were caught up at home by Fiorentina who won 1-2. Ijeh's early goal wasn't enough, the Tuscan team quickly went level and returned for the win thanks to a goal for Bredgaard and a penalty for Boquete. In some ways, today's game resembled last week's performance: a narrow defeat in a spirited attempt but lacking in the offensive department. The final result was already sealed in the first 30 minutes with Coach Bakker's side only managing to threaten their opposition.

At the PUMA House of Football, under the watchful eye of Gerry Cardinale, the Viola seemed vulnerable with us in the lead - in a positive and solid passage of play - but instead came back to draw and win by bringing something extra. Plenty of regrets for a difficult start to the season with zero points in the standings after two games in the Women's Serie A. Work and growth are required, errors must be corrected, and a reaction is needed. The next league game is an opportunity to go again: the derby, away from home, on Sunday 22 September at 15:45 CEST.

MATCH REPORT
Ready, set, Ijeh: AC Milan opened the scoring right away. In the 3rd minute, Soffia made a good run down the wing and into the middle, Fiskerstrand saved, and Evelyn picked up the ball to fire it home. In the 15th minute, Fiorentina's first push forwards saw them threaten: cross from Severini and Giuliani via the crossbar. The leveller came in the 17th minute when Bredgaard volleyed on the edge of the box for a perfect ball into the top corner. In the 21st minute, Soffia to Marinelli who unleashed a powerful shot but hit the post. In the 32nd minute, the opposition took the lead after Dompig gave away a penalty with a handball in the box: Boquete converted from the spot. In the 38th minute, Karczewska headed just wide following a corner.

No changes after the break. The Viola doubled down on their dominance on the ball and in attack: in the 50th minute, Giuliani stopped a shot from Bonfantini with a shot from Boquete flying wide just moments later. In the 54th minute, Snerle unleashed a powerful shot that flew just high. Laurent and Stokić were the first to come off the bench. There was a big lag in the game with slow movement and the forwards suffered for it. The Rossonere struggled to threaten. Catena risked causing trouble in the 69th minute and Swaby was stopped in the 75th minute. The last big chance of the game came for Karczewska who tried to divert Dompig's turning shot into the net with her heel to no avail. Chaos ensued and after the time added on it ended 1-2.
