A DOMINANT ROSSONERE DISPLAY: 4-0 AGAINST POMIGLIANO

Corti's side resume their season in the best way possible as Dompig, Ijeh and Vigilucci get on the scoresheet

It was a dominant performance from the Rossonere against Pomigliano at the PUMA House of Football this afternoon: the match finished 4-0, with Chanté Dompig bagging a first-half brace and Ijeh and Vigilucci adding to the scoreline in the second half. We've thus begun the second phase of the women's Serie A season in the best way possible. After victories over Samp and Inter and last weekend's break, today saw AC Milan come away with a commanding victory thanks to some fine attacking football combined with defensive solidity.

Coach Corti’s side didn't run any risks and created numerous opportunities. It was an uneventful afternoon for Giuliani, who watched the front three play with real understanding. From Nadim's fantastic assists and Ijeh's energy through to Dompig's ability to be in the right place at the right time. Valery Vigilucci's first league goal of the campaign, which arrived just a few moments after her introduction, extended the Rossonere's advantage still further and well and truly put the three points beyond doubt. AC Milan sit top of the relegation round group with 24 points. Next up is an away match against Como Women on Saturday 30 March: keep it up, girls!

MATCH REPORT
The Rossonere immediately looked to take the game to their opponents, who were happy to sit back. The first chance of the game fell the way of Piga, whose powerful right-footed effort sailed over the bar (7'). AC Milan put their foot on the accelerator: Nadim (11') and Bergamaschi (13') came close, and the opener was very much on the horizon. In the 15th minute, Buhigas kept out Ijeh’s left-footed effort but couldn’t do anything about Dompig's subsequent tap-in that made it 1-0. There was then a period of little goalmouth action, even if Fusini (35') and Arcangeli (37') threatened for the visitors. The second goal of the day arrived on the 44-minute mark: Nadim made space for herself in the area and let fly, but it was Dompig who got the final touch. 2-0 at the break.

AC Milan also made a strong start to the second half. In the 47th minute, Ijeh combined with Nadim and calmly guided the ball into the corner with her right foot. Pomigliano had a chance to pull one back, but Battistini got her finish wrong on the counter (52'). Ijeh then freed herself of her marker well before calling Buhigas into action (59'). The resulting corner was taken by Cernoia and met by Vigilucci, who headed home at the near post (4-0). As the minutes ticked by, the pace of the game slowed down. Asllani almost scored with a right-footed attempt in the 82nd-minute, while Nambi was unable to hit the target with a shot from the edge of the box six minutes later. It finished 4-0 to AC Milan!
