The away match in Seregno against Como Women will end the first phase of the Serie A Femminile season, and the Rossonere can still hope to finish in the top four of the table, where they currently sit fifth. After matchday 18, the table will be split into the two groups, top and bottom half. Let's get ready for Sunday's game (14:30 CET) with our analysis.
LATEST FROM PUMA HOUSE OF FOOTBALL
Commitments with the national teams have given Coach Ganz a somewhat uncertain squad: Guðný Árnadóttir will not be available to a shoulder injury, and Lindsey Thomas is out as well, as she's struggling with a few aches and pains that need to be resolved. On the other hand, Marta Mascarello and Kosovare Asllani, who both missed the last championship match against Pomigliano, are back in the squad list. The long-term absentees Silvia Rubio, Rimantė Jonušaitė and Chanté Dompig are still absent. After five victories in the last six games in the league, the Rossoneri are aiming to end the regular season on a high note.
Coach Ganz gave his thoughts on the eve of the match: "It's an important match that comes after the break, in which many players have been on national duty. It will not be easy because we have had very few days to prepare for it, but we are nevertheless ready to give battle."
Here is the Rossonere squad: Babb, Fedele, Giuliani; Carage, Fusetti, Guagni, Mesjasz, Nouwen, Soffia, Thrige, Zanini; Adami, Bahlouli, K. Dubcová, Grimshaw, Mascarello, Vigilucci; Asllani, Bergamaschi, Piemonte, Sevenius.
LATEST FROM COMO WOMEN
Como Women come into this one on a poor run of form, having lost their last three matches in a row and have not won in five: the Larian side, who have two ex Rossoneri players, Mária Korenčiová and Nina Stapelfeldt, in the squad, will be split off into the bottom half. In the second phase of the season they will play for their place in the top division alongside Parma, Sampdoria, Sassuolo and Pomigliano, five teams all within four points of each other in the current table.
Como's general manager Miro Keci spoke to the club's official channels: "We needed the national break to recover from some injuries. From the point of view of the game we are always trying our best, and this makes us look positively at the upcoming fixture list".
PRE-MATCH
The only previous meeting between AC Milan and Como in Serie A ended 3-3, last 20 November. AC Milan have won four of their five matches in Serie A in 2023 (one draw). In the new calendar year, in fact, only Roma (15) have collected more points than the Rossoneri in the league (12). Como, on the other hand, are, along with Sampdoria, one of the two teams that have not won a single point at home during this period. The Rossonere's positive form is backed up by two other pieces of data: they have kept a clean sheet in four of their last six Serie A matches and have won all of their last four Serie A away matches.
