Mission accomplished for AC Milan's Women, who beat Lazio in an away match and qualified for the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia. In Formello, in the first official match of the new year, Maurizio Ganz's team won 7-0 against the Serie B leaders, closing out the match in just the first half-hour, with four goals - scored by Fusetti, Soffia, Thomas and Piemonte - between the 12th and the 32nd minute. In the second half, the goals of Thrige, Bergamaschi and Kamila Dubcová fixed the final score of an afternoon that goes into the books with seven different scorers and a first win of the season achieved with authority and character.
It was a team victory for the Rossonere, where Thomas and Soffia stood out (two assists each in addition to a goal of their own) and the first appearance of the season also for third goalkeeper Noemi Fedele, who took over from Selena Babb in the second half and fully recovered after the injury suffered at the beginning of 2022. The best way to start 2023 for AC Milan, who will now turn their attentions to the league and to a January full of important fixtures: the first, in order of time, will be Sunday 15 at 12:30 CET, when Parma will be on the scene at the PUMA House of Football.

MATCH REPORT
For the Rossonere, it was their first official match with the Third Kit and the first time on the bench, in an official competition, for the 16 year old Primavera Letizia Rossi. The first attempt came in the 4th minute with a through ball from Piemonte for Soffia, who was anticipated by the goalkeeper. Lazio tried to respond, but AC Milan grew better as the minutes passed and in the 12th minute took the lead through Fusetti, who headed the ball on an assist from an uncontainable Soffia. The same Rossoneri number 20 doubled the lead in the 18th minute: Thomas progressed forward and passed to Adami, who opened the ball for Soffia, who beat Guidi with an unstoppable left-footed shot. Five minutes later, in the 23rd minute, it was 3-0 to AC Milan through Thomas, with a header on another cross from Soffia. The Rossoneri continued to grind out the game and, after a post by Adami in the 25th minute, they found the fourth goal in the 32nd minute with Martina Piemonte, who netted with a close-range shot on an assist from Thomas.
The second half began with Thrige replacing Árnadóttir. The tempo was lower than in the first 45 minutes, with Vigilucci coming close to scoring the fifth goal in the 59th minute, one-on-one with Guidi. The 5-0 came, however, in the 65th minute with a great shot from outside the area by Thrige herself. Only sixty seconds passed for the sixth goal: Thomas' assist that cleared the Lazio goalkeeper, winning header of captain Bergamaschi. Coach Ganz gave space to the bench - also Noemi Fedele, at her debut of the season, enters - with AC Milan continuing to attack in the final. In the 82nd minute, Piemonte came close to scoring twice with a volley, on Guagni's cross, just over the crossbar. The seventh Rossoneri goal came in the 89th minute, with a splendid shot on the turn by Kamila Dubcová. Final whistle.
