ROSSONERE DEFEAT IN THE DERBY

After three consecutive wins, Ganz's AC Milan come to a standstill against top-of-the-table Inter: 4-0

It was Inter who won the first women's derby of the season: the Nerazzurre beat coach Ganz's AC Milan 4-0, whose progress in the table was interrupted after three consecutive victories. A harsh score for the Rossonere, who did not disappoint at all in the first half hour of the game - even hitting the crossbar with Grimshaw's effort - then suffering the blow of the second and third Nerazzurre goal in the final half.

A fairly indifferent second half then saw AC Milan push on, in vain, in search of the consolation goal that would have made the defeat less bitter and difficult to take. An afternoon to be put behind them for the Rossonere, who are scheduled to play another important fixture next weekend: on Saturday afternoon, in fact, AC Milan will host the Italian champions Juventus, in order to seek redemption on the field after today's defeat.

MATCH REPORT
In the early stages of the game, the Rossonere had two chances - Asllani's shot being blocked in the 2nd minute and Adami's header in the 4th - but it was Inter who took the lead in the 9th minute, with van der Gragt's shot coming from a corner kick. Ganz's team's reaction did not take long: in the 15th minute it was Mesjasz who tested Durante with a right-footed shot in the box, while in the 18th minute the Nerazzurre's goalkeeper managed to deny Thomas, who had a breakaway chance. Giuliani did well in the 21st minute to deny Njoya, while in the 25th minute Thomas again came close to equalising with a header that was just wide. The Rossonere's best chance came in the 31st minute, when Grimshaw's header hit the crossbar, but shortly after Inter doubled the score: Giuliani came out to Polli in the 34th minute, but the ball fell to Chawinga, who slotted it home with her left. The Rossonere goalkeeper redeemed herself in the 38th minute with a good save, again on Chawinga, but in the 42nd minute the Nerazzurre's third goal came after a right-footed shot from Polli was deflected by Árnadóttir.

The second half began with a fine outside-the-foot by Grimshaw that grazed Durante's goalpost, a chance that did not, however, serve as a precursor to a Rossoneri comeback. In the 55th minute Inter scored their fourth with Polli, heading home from two paces out after a cross from the left by Chawinga. With the result now locked in, the hosts left no margin for any Rossonere hope, looking for at least a consolation goal. There was also space for Thrige, Soffia and Piemonte, but the succession of corners taken (eleven on the afternoon at Breda) did not generate any real chances. The last touches came from Adami from outside the box in the 83rd minute and an attempt from the edge by Piemonte in the dying minutes, but to no avail. Final whistle.
