Valentina Giacinti. One player stole the show in the third Derby of the season, and this was the Rossonere captain, who scored four goals in a 4-1 comeback victory. AC Milan thus picked up three important points, consolidating second place in the league and taking another step forward with Champions League qualification in mind. A win that was inspired by the brilliance of our number 9, who has now netted on 16 occasions in the league this season. Furthermore, Giacinti surpassed the 50-goal mark (she's now found the net 53 times) in an AC Milan shirt. She netted four times in 65 minutes this afternoon, the fastest quartet in the Italian top flight since December 2018.
Taking into account Derbies in both the men's and women's games, Giacinti has become the first player in 61 years to score three first-half goals, a feat last achieved by José Altafini on 27 March 1960. It was a magnificent Sunday for the Rossonere, who were able to respond after the Nerazzurre took an early lead. Lining up alongside the captain was Natasha Dowie, who put in a selfless display. Meanwhile, the midfield trio of Hasegawa, Vero and Jane built on their excellent performances last weekend. The best possible afternoon ahead of the upcoming break: on the weekend of 17/18 April, AC Milan will return to the pitch to face Napoli.

REPORT
Coach Ganz made one change to his starting line-up from the team's victory over Empoli last time out, with Tucceri Cimini playing from the get-go. Inter struck the first blow, taking the lead through Møller's strike from outside the box in the eleventh minute. However, the Rossonere responded immediately. With 15 minutes on the clock, Giacinti headed home the rebound after Jane's shot had been saved by Marchitelli. It was a moment that injected life into AC Milan, who really started to assert themselves. In the 32nd minute, the Rossonere captain scored her second, calmly slotting home from the penalty spot after Marchitelli had fouled Dowie in the box. The number 9's day only got better after 38 minutes, when she completed her hat-trick with a right-footed effort following Dowie's cross from the right.
It was much the same story after the restart, with the Rossonere continuing to push forward. On the 48-minute mark, Marchitelli denied Dowie, while Giacinti's acrobatic attempt finished off target nine minutes later. However, her fourth goal would arrive just a few minutes later as she finished off Hasegawa's assist. The Nerazzurre looked to conjure up a response, with Mauro hitting the bar in the 72nd minute. In the closing stages, AC Milan came close to making it five through Dowie and then Vitale, but the scoreline didn't change. It finished 4-1 to Coach Ganz's girls.
