SEVENTH SYMPHONY FOR THE ROSSONERE

AC Milan begin 2021 with their seventh straight victory in Serie A, the tenth of the season: Dowie with the deciding goal in the first half.

AC Milan Women have begun 2021 with their tenth win in 11 matches in Women’s Serie A, beating Verona at the Sinergy Stadium with their fifth 1-0 win of the season. It is the seventh win in a row for Mauizio Ganz’s women, sealed with a first half Natasha Dowie goal, a nice header after an even nicer cross by Tucceri Cimini. There were lots of positives to take from today’s match for Coach Ganz, starting with a fourth consecutive clean sheet in Serie A, a record for his AC Milan side. The midfield played well and there were lots of positives to be seen from the offensive front too. All indicators are good ones, which is a big positive heading into the next round of return fixtures which begin next week, on Sunday at 14:30 CET with an away trip to Florentina.

THE REPORT
It was the first Serie A start for Simic, who had the first chance of the game with a right footed volley after just five minutes. In the ninth minute Bergamaschi tried her luck: from a corner her right footed shot hit off the crossbar with the goalkeeper beaten. After a Rossoneri-tinted opening, Tucceri Cimini was next to graze the upright, when in the 19th minute her cross-shot hissed by Durante’s goal. One minute later the captain Giacinti worried the home defence with a sideways overhead kick. AC Milan took the lead in the 22nd minute through Natasha Dowie, who tucked away Tucceri Cimini's precise cross into the net with terrific aerial ability. It was the Rossoneri number 27 once again who came closest to doubling the lead: set up by Boquete, her left-footed shot was going towards the corner but was met well by the Gialloblù goalkeeper. The balance of the match did not change much in the second half, despite Hellas trying their best on a couple of occasions to worry the Rossoneri defence. Their best chance came in the 60th minute when a timely intervention by Fusetti prevented Bragonzi from scoring. Ganz's girls came back into the game mid-way through the second half with an effort by Tucceri Cimini who shot high over the crossbar. In the final moments AC Milan remained on top, as Giacinti linked up with Durante, with the ball then rebounding to Mauri who failed to land the knockout blow. This was the last piece of action in the match, which Coach Ganz’s team come away from as deserved winners.
