AC MILAN'S PHYSICAL ACTIVITY LITERACY PROJECT

The programme for the 2019/20 season comes to a successful end

AC Milan is strongly convinced that the practice of sports and football can offer significant benefits in terms of education and physical and mental wellbeing, due to this, the Club has been committed to establishing positive and long-lasting relationships with local schools, families and sports clubs for years. The goal is to spread AC Milan’s know-how and to encourage a more widespread awareness of a healthy sporting lifestyle, inspired by fair play and mutual respect.

The project, completely free of charge, is aimed at primary schools throughout the country and provides support for P.E. teachers from a team of experts with degrees in sport science, all of whom are involved as coaches in the AC Milan Academy School of Football.

The Physical Activity Literacy project for the 2019/20 season has now come to a successful conclusion; with the coaches from AC Milan’s School of Football assisting physical education teachers from 26 primary schools over the course of the year, with 100 hours spent at each school conveying a series of principles to help teachers conduct P.E. lessons in the most productive way possible.

More than 100 teachers were involved, with roughly 5,000 children taking part in all of the lessons. Each school was also given two manuals, a description of the project and an exercise book to help the teachers continue the project by themselves when the coaching period came to an end. A meeting between the School of Football and the schools involved will take place once schools reopen.

The Fondazione Milan has set up a fundraiser to support AREU's efforts: do your part and help us to support those who are fighting the COVID-19 emergency on a daily basis: www.gofundme.com/f/emergenza-coronavirus-ospedali.
