AC MILAN v LECCE: FUN FACTS

The main statistics for matchday 31 in Serie A

AC Milan's league campaign in back in the spotlight with a tricky fixture, despite the gap in the table between the two sides, as Lecce are the visitors to San Siro on matchday 31. As shown in the reverse fixture, the side from Apulia caused many problems for the Rossoneri, who will need to be on their guard to obtain all three points. Following are some fun facts and stats ahead of the fixture with the Salentini:

GOALS, GOALS, GOALS
AC Milan and Lecce have met on 33 previous occasions in Serie A, with the balance truly in favour of the Rossoneri (19 wins, twelve draws and only two defeats). The recurring theme of this tie is goals, with the Rossoneri not scoring in only one game in 16 at San Siro (0-0 in January 1994). In their last ten home outings against Lecce, AC Milan have always had two different players on the scoresheet (29 in total), and have scored at least twice in 21 of the 33 league meetings (in Lombardy or in Apulia).

COLLECTIVITY AND YOUTH
Only Atalanta (18) boast more than AC Milan's 16 different goalscorers in this season's campaign. The Rossoneri have one of the youngest sides in the league, after having won their 19th Scudetto title with the youngest-ever squad in the three points for a win era. Instead, Lecce contain the most number of players born since 2000 in their squad who have made at least 25 appearances: five, including AC Milan's on-loan striker Lorenzo Colombo. The fixture between the Rossoneri and Giallorossi will also see the three youngest midfieders with the most assists this season come up against each other: Díaz, Hjulmand and Tonali.

LEADER OF TACKLES
Since January 2023, AC Milan (199) and Lecce (191) are the two leading sides to have won the most number of tackles in Serie A. In general, and in this calendar year, the Rossoneri (65%) have the second-highest percentage win rate, behind only Real Madrid (71%), in Europe's top-five leagues.

WATCH OUT FOR RAFA
Leão has netted in two of the last three league games against Lecce, including last time out on 14 January: the Portuguese striker has the best goals scored/minutes played ratio, out of teams faced at least twice, against the Giallorossi. These are good omens for Rafa, who is looking for his first home goal in the league since 13 November 2022. In his last five Serie A home games, Leão has been involved in only one goal, setting up Messias in the 2-0 win over Atalanta on 26 February.
