AC MILAN v FC SALZBURG: ALL THE NUMBERS FROM THE GAME

The stats from the Rossoneri's success that earns them a place in the last 16

A special night, an AC Milan night. Mission complete for the Rossoneri who beat FC Salzburg 4-0 to seal their spot in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. The time will come to think about the draw and the next opponent, but for now let's continue to enjoy the magical evening at San Siro with some statistics and fun facts coming out of the success over the Austrian side. 

1- AC Milan have reached the Champions League knockout stages for the first time since the 2013/14 campaign.

2- The Rossoneri have won two consecutive Champions League matches for the first time since October 2011 (both 2-0 home wins over Viktoria Plzeň and BATE Borisov).

3- AC Milan have scored at least four goals in two consecutive Champions League matches for the first time since March 2004 (against Sparta Prague and Deportivo de La Coruña)

4- Olivier Giroud (36 years and 33 days) is the oldest player to be involved in at least 3 goals in a Champions League match since 2003/04. The Rossoneri number nine is also the second oldest player to score 2+ goals in a Champions League match for AC Milan, after Filippo Inzaghi in 2010.

5-  For the first time in his career, Olivier Giroud has scored and delivered an assist in the same Champions League match. The French forward is also the first AC Milan player to score at least two goals and deliver at least two assists in a single match in the competition since 2003/04. Prior to Olivier, the last player to have scored at least four goals in a Champions League campaign for AC Milan was Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2011/12 (five).

6- With 22 years and 178 days, Sandro Tonali is the youngest AC Milan player to have delivered an assist in two consecutive Champions League appearances since 2003/04.
