10 FACTS ON NAPOLI v AC MILAN

The main stats ahead of the Rossoneri's 28th fixture of the Serie A season

It's a top-of-the-table clash that could set the tone for the remainder of the season. On Sunday evening, joint leaders Napoli and AC Milan meet in their Serie A matchday 28 fixture. Ahead of kick-off at the Maradona, let's take a look at a few stats pertaining to the match between the Azzurri and Rossoneri.

This will be meeting number 148 between Napoli and AC Milan in Serie A: the Rossoneri lead the overall head-to-head record with 55 wins to the Azzurri's 44, with 48 draws completing the picture. This will be the 74th time that the Rossoneri have faced the Partenopei away from home: Napoli have won 28 of these, AC Milan 23 and 22 draws.

2- AC Milan won their last away game against the Azzurri in the league (3-1 on 22 November 2020) and haven't won two consecutive Serie A matches away at Napoli since 1981: the second game, in that case, ended 1-0 thanks to a Ferrario own goal.

3- Napoli and AC Milan will, for the seventh time in history, face off with both sides on the same amount of points at the start of the matchday in Serie A; there has been no draw in the six previous instances, with three wins apiece.

8- Olivier Giroud has scored seven goals in the league this season, all of which have been at San Siro. The French striker, however, has provided two assists away from Milan, against Empoli and Salernitana.

9- Theo Hernández has played more minutes (2,562) in all competitions than any other AC Milan player. The French full-back has had a hand in two goals in four Serie A games against Napoli, a goal on 12 July 2020 and an assist on 22 November of the same calendar year, both at the Maradona. 

10- Tiémoué Bakayoko made 32 appearances in Serie A for Napoli last season. The French midfielder actually made his Serie A debut in Napoli v AC Milan in August 2018.
