8 FACTS ON AC MILAN V GENOA

The main stats ahead of the Rossoneri's matchday 31 fixture in Serie A

AC Milan v Genoa last took place in March 2020, and it was the first match that the Rossoneri played at an empty San Siro. Then came lockdown. Today’s fixture represents a new chapter: it’s a crucial game in the race to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Ahead of the matchday 31 clash in Serie A, here are some fun facts that you should know:

DIRECT ENCOUNTERS
1- AC Milan and Genoa have faced each other 105 times in Serie A, with the Rossoneri's record against the Grifone reading as follows: 51 wins, 34 draws, 20 defeats. The Diavolo have won four of their last six league matches against Genoa (D1, L1). The most recent encounter between the sides finished 2-2 earlier on in the season.

STATE OF PLAY
2- AC Milan have picked up 63 points from 30 matches this season. Should they beat Genoa, the Rossoneri would equal the tally they achieved during the whole of the 2019/20 Serie A campaign (66 points from 38 games).

GENERAL STATISTICS
3- AC Milan's last ten goals in all competitions have been scored by ten different players: since 7 March, no Rossoneri player has found the net more than once.

4- The upcoming match at San Siro will see the team that have scored the most goals from set pieces (AC Milan, 23) come up against the side that have netted the fewest from dead-ball situations (Genoa, three).

PLAYER FOCUS
5- Theo Hernández has been involved in nine goals this season (four goals, five assists), the same amount he contributed to last year. The first of the Frenchman's ten Serie A goals came against Genoa back when the Rossoneri emerged victorious away from home in October 2019.

6- Franck Kessie (ten) is the first non-Italian AC Milan player to score at least ten goals in a single Serie A season since Kaká did so in 2008/09 (16).

7- Since his Serie A debut in 2019/20, Rafael Leão has scored five substitute goals in the league, more than any other AC Milan player (Ante Rebić is the next best in this regard with four).

8- Hakan Çalhanoğlu is the player who has created the most goalscoring opportunities in the league this season (78). The Turk has set up a teammate to score on eight occasions so far. Taking into account his time in Serie A and the Bundesliga, he’s only registered more assists in a single season once: in 2019/20 (nine).
