It’s now 13 league wins for Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan side, who consolidated their position at the top of the Serie A table thanks to a win at the Sardegna Arena. It was a night where Zlatan Ibrahimović once again took centre stage, with the Swede bagging a brace and building on his already impressive numbers this season. After a deserved win for the depleted Rossoneri, here are seven facts and figures that you need to know:
- AC Milan have equalled their longest unbeaten streak away from home in Serie A since the three-points-per-win era began (1994-95): 16 matches, a feat they last achieved between September 2003 and April 2004.
- AC Milan have scored in 19 consecutive away fixtures in Serie A, equalling their longest run in the competition: they last did this between March 1992 and April 1993.
- Zlatan Ibrahimović has found the net in nine successive starts for the first time in one of Europe’s Top Five leagues.
- Zlatan has scored an average of 1.5 goals per game in Serie A this season (twelve goals in eight appearances), a record in the Top Five European Leagues in 2020/21 (Lewandowski is second in this regard with 1.4). Ibra has already bettered his Serie A goal tally from last season (12 v 10) and has achieved this in ten fewer matches (18 v 8). Furthermore, the Swede has moved ahead of Marco Di Vaio in the all-time top goalscorer ranking in Serie A and now sits in 30th place (144 goals).
- Only Lyon (15) have hit the woodwork on more occasions than AC Milan (14) in the Top Five European leagues this season.
- AC Milan have kept a clean sheet in each of their last four games against Cagliari. Against no other Serie A side are they currently enjoying a longer run without conceding.
- Franck Kessie made his 150th start for AC Milan in all competitions in Sardinia.
