Coach Pioli’s side picked up yet another vital win on Sunday, reaffirming the Rossoneri’s rich vein of recent form. AC Milan beat Samp 2-1 at the Marassi to extend their lead at the top of Serie A, with the team once again showing solidity, desire and ruthlessness. This latest win led to another set of three points for the Rossoneri, with six key stats also emerging from the match. Here they are:
- Milan have picked up eight wins from their opening 10 Serie A matches this season. Only on one prior occasion have they achieved a better run of form, winning nine out of 10 back in 1954/55.
- This team have set a new Rossoneri record for goals scored in successive Serie A matches (30).
- Milan have scored at least two goals for the 12th game running in Serie A, which is another record.
- Samu Castillejo tonight scored the quickest goal as a Serie A substitute so far this season, netting the Rossoneri’s second after just 34 seconds on the pitch.
- Pioli’s side tonight picked up their seventh successive win on the road in Serie A. Only once before have the Rossoneri achieved a greater tally, with Fabio Capello’s Milan team winning nine on the trot in 1993.
- Since his arrival in 2017/18, Franck Kessie has scored 20 goals for Milan in Serie A. Aside from Zlatan Ibrahimović, no Rossoneri player has scored more during this same period. Furthermore, the Ivorian has netted four goals from 10 appearances this season, already matching his tally from 2019/20 when he played 35 matches. Lastly, Kessie is the only central midfielder playing in any of Europe’s top five leagues to have scored at least four goals every season since 2016/17.
