A big victory and a dominant display: thanks to goals from Saelemaekers, Çalhanoğlu, Bennacer, Rebić and Calabria, AC Milan beat Bologna 5-1 to move up to 56 points in the league. An important win and one which we’ve summed up in ten statistics.
- Since the restart, AC Milan are the side that has scored the most goals in Serie A (25).
- AC Milan have scored at least two goals in each of their last eight Serie A fixtures: the Rossoneri haven’t done better than this since September 1999 (a run of nine games).
- The Rossoneri have scored at least three goals at home for three consecutive home matches in Serie A for the first time since November 2011.
- In 2020, only Erling Håland (13 goals) and Robert Lewandowski (twelve) have found the net on more occasions from open play than Ante Rebić (eleven) in the Top Five European leagues.
- Considering a single league season, Bologna are the first team against whom AC Milan have scored at least two goals in the first half of both the reverse and return fixtures since Palermo in 2015/16.
- Hakan Çalhanoğlu has set a personal record for the number of goals scored in a single Serie A season (seven). The last time he did better over the course of a single campaign was in the 2014/15 Bundesliga season, when he netted eight times for Bayer Leverkusen.
- Alexis Saelemaekers has become just the second Belgian player to find the net for AC Milan in Serie A following on from Eric Gerets in September 1983 against Verona. This evening, he scored AC Milan’s fastest goal in Serie A (after nine minutes and 49 seconds) since Suso netted against Genoa in October 2018 (3:38).
- AC Milan had five different goalscorers in a single Serie A match for the first time since November 2012.
- AC Milan had 13 shots on target against Bologna, their highest tally this season. The last time they did better than this was in August 2010 against Lecce (14 back then).
- Simon Kjær played his 100th Serie A match this evening. Giacomo Bonaventura, meanwhile, featured for the 250th time in the competition.
