4 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT YUNUS MUSAH

Childhood, national team and beyond: a look at the most interesting facts about the 20-year-old

Following the arrivals of Loftus-Cheek and Reijnders, Pioli’s midfield has also welcomed Yunus Musah. The 20-year-old has taken his first steps in the Rossoneri world in recent days and, after delving into his career and technical characteristics, it's time for us to discover some interesting facts about him.

MULTIPLE CHOICE
We learnt about his youth, full of travel and adventure. Because of this, and thanks to his parents' origins, Yunus had the opportunity to represent no less than four national teams: Italy, Ghana, England and the United States of America. After making his debut with the England Under 15s and following the path all the way to the Under 18s, Musah chose to play for the US National team, despite attempted persuasion by current English coach Gareth Southgate.

RECORD AND PRESTIGE
Musah holds the record as the youngest non-Spanish player to score a goal for Valencia. At the age of just 17 years and 338 days, he gave Los Che Els a 1-0 lead in an eventual 2-2 draw against Getafe in the eighth match of the 2020/21 edition of La Liga. Furthermore, just like Luka Romero, his new teammate and also a new Rossonero, Yunus was also included in the Guardian's prestigious "Next Generation" List, composed of the 60 best talents of each year: 2002 for Musah and 2004 for Romero.

POLYGLOT
Between family traditions and lived experiences, Yunus has learnt to communicate fluently in several languages: from English to Italian, through to Spanish, Dagbani - the language spoken in Ghana -, and Hausa, the most widely spoken dialect throughout the African continent. From now on, he will have time to perfect his already excellent Italian.

ROSSONERO CONNECTION
In the course of his career, the American midfielder has already had a taste of AC Milan history. At Valencia, he was coached by an old Rossoneri acquaintance, Gennaro Gattuso, who led the Spanish club in the 2022/23 season.
