FROSINONE v AC MILAN: THE BRIEFING

Three keys to the match that kicks off February for the Rossoneri

Two young teams capable of playing beautiful football, attacking vertically, and recovering from disadvantageous situations. Frosinone and AC Milan, though distant in the standings, are in good form and approach their first meeting in February with confidence. The fourth round of the second half of the season puts crucial points at stake for the ambitions of teams led by Eusebio Di Francesco and Stefano Pioli. Let's dive into some themes of the match in Ciociaria in our Briefing.

PROLIFIC ATTACKS AND DEAD BALLS
Those who witness the match at the Stirpe on Saturday will see a clash between two teams with loads of offensive potential. While the Rossoneri boast the second-best attack in the league, the Yellow and Blues have already equaled the total number of goals scored in their previous Serie A experience (in 22 matches) and are the most prolific among teams in the lower half of the table. Frosinone also have one of the best offensive units in home games (only Inter, Atalanta, and Roma outperform Eusebio Di Francesco's team), having surpassed the total points collected in their first two seasons in the top flight. AC Milan, on the other hand, scored eleven goals in January and will seek to build on their offensive prowess for a third consecutive away victory. A particular focus in this clash of prolific attacks will be on dead-ball situations: the Ciociari and the Rossoneri are among the top four teams that have scored the most from corner kicks, with Frosinone being the best team in the league for the percentage of goals scored from set-pieces. Whoever performs better in this game situation will likely have the best chance of claiming all three points.

APPROACH AND MANAGEMENT
In a match that promises to be fast-paced, judicious management of different game situations will be crucial. The Rossoneri come from two games - against Udinese and Bologna - where they conceded in both but, also staged a comeback, demonstrating the ability to recover but, at the same time, showing room for improvement in managing leads. One key to the match will be the approach to a game featuring the most prolific first-half team (AC Milan) against the team that has conceded the most in the initial 45 minutes of every match this season (Frosinone). Breaking the deadlock may not necessarily be indicative, as the Ciociari also come from two matches where they managed to recover from a deficit: from 0-1 to 3-1 against Cagliari, and from 0-1 to 1-1 in Verona. The ability to handle different situations will need to be sought in defensive situations, with Pioli's team likely to field the same back four (Calabria-Kjær-Gabbia-Hernández) for the fourth consecutive game to face a young and unpredictable Ciociaro attack.

SOULÉ AND LEÃO, CREATIVITY THAT EXCITES
Matchday 23 of the Serie A TIM will also feature a duel between two of the most creative players in the league, Matías Soulé and Rafael Leão. Pivotal to the fortunes of the Yellow and Blues and the Rossoneri, the Argentine and the Portuguese are two of the four players who have frequently set up a teammate for a shot after completing their own dribble. Soulé is experiencing a breakout season in Ciociaria and has scored in the last two consecutive home games: in Serie A, he has already scored against two big teams (Fiorentina and Lazio) and seeks to shine against a well-formulated opponent like Theo Hernández. On the Rossoneri side, all eyes are on Leão, one goal away from reaching 50 in the AC Milan shirt. A goal in the Stirpe match would be doubly important for Rafa, also to end his goal drought in the league. The situation is favorable, given the numerous defensive absences in a Frosinone side that has rotated three different right-backs in recent outings: Lirola, Zortea and Gelli, with the first two likely to still be absent due to injury.
