MORATA: "AC MILAN HAS SHOWN THAT THEY BELIEVE IN ME"

"I'm in the perfect place, at the perfect age": here are the Spanish striker's first words as a Rossoneri

It’s the day of Álvaro Morata. The Spanish striker, after arriving in Milan on Thursday evening, held his first press conference as an AC Milan player at Casa Milan. His words were broadcast live on the AC Milan Official App. Here are the most interesting highlights.

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIĆ
"I want to welcome the captain of the European Champions, he’s finally here. As a forward, we were looking for a complete profile, both on and off the field. In this regard, Álvaro is perfect for us, for a team younger than last year’s. What I’ve seen in him are leadership qualities. He has great experience, has won a lot, and is well-known on the field. With the help of his teammates and the Club, I’m sure he’ll do exceptionally well. The team is eager to get to know him and play with him".

"The team is responding well to the work they’re doing. There’s a new coach with a new staff, and each day, Fonseca’s identity is becoming more and more evident. The coach hasn’t had all the players available from the start, but gradually they will all integrate. I’ve seen many positive things, let’s not focus on the results just yet. However, we’re optimistic, and with patience, I’m sure everything will turn out well. We’re working hard and patiently on the market, following the strategy we set from the beginning".

ÁLVARO MORATA

FIRST CONTACT WITH AC MILAN
"Thanks to everyone who worked to bring me here. As soon as Zlatan called me, I spoke with the coach and the management. No one wanted me as much as AC Milan did. Even at the Euros, I felt like an AC Milan player. I’m a player who needs confidence and people who believe in me. Here, everyone has shown me that. AC Milan is AC Milan, it’s hard to find a club with such organisation. I can’t promise titles, but I will run hard to press and help my teammates give their best".

THE HISTORIC ROSSONERI FORWARDS
"One of my biggest inspirations is Zlatan. Being here next to him is thrilling. I’ve also heard from Kaká, Sheva, Pato, and Beckham. They all told me that AC Milan is something special, a part of football history has been written here, and thanks to them, I arrived. Giroud was my teammate at Chelsea, and I learned a lot from him. When the agreement was finalised, Zlatan sent me a video about the forwards in Milan's history that gave me goosebumps".

THE EXPECTATIONS
"I want to win. I’m not concerned about scoring 50 or 60 goals. The focus should be on winning, enjoying the journey, and understanding that this is a team game. When I arrived at Milanello, I felt the atmosphere here and could only do well. I want to bring the second star and help the club continue to improve. These are the final years of my career, but they are the best. I’ve reached a mature stage. I’m here to feel excited, in the perfect place, at the perfect age. I want to play at a high level and win".

SERIE A
"The league has grown a lot and is increasingly enjoyable to watch. The teams are well-coached and better prepared. I am always grateful to Juventus for what they did for me earlier in my career. Friends remain friends but off the field. Now, a new journey and a new adventure begins".

SIMILARITIES WITH SPAIN
"There are very similar players who could become among the best in the world. The playing styles of the two coaches are aligned. I see many similarities, but what's important now is to integrate into the group quickly. As mentioned, I want to win. I’m not interested in being the centre of attention. I’m here to win".

FRIENDSHIP WITH THEO
"We’ve always had a wonderful relationship, he’s an open and very fun person. We even met up during the holidays. I hope he’s fueled up because he’s a key player for this team. He has the potential to make another leap and become the best full-back in the world. I’ll try to remind him of that every morning".

COACH FONSECA
"We talked several times, at length, but not many additional details were needed to make the decision. His vision is very similar to what I like, so I know I’ll fit in well. With the quality we have, we need to take the breath away from other teams and press them hard".

THE CHANGING ROOM AND RESPONSIBILITIES
"I enjoy winning. At the Euros, we were told that we were too young to win, but you have to believe and work hard to go far. That’s why I’m eager to integrate into the team. I want to get to know my teammates because I like seeing others work and dream. I’m not selfish, I try to bring a positive dynamic and enjoy creating a family with the teammates I see every day".

THE GROWTH OF CAMARDA
"I met him today. I know him, I’ve watched his matches, and I want to help him grow. He will be the future, or perhaps the present because that’s how football is. I might even find myself on the bench in his favour. I often joke with the young players, but I also get frustrated if they don’t do things properly".
