PULISIC: "A NEW START FOR ME"

He’s here and he’s ready. Christian Pulisic is officially a Rossonero, with the American introducing himself in a press conference at Milanello this evening. These were his words, which were broadcast live on Milan TV, YouTube, Twitch and the AC Milan Official App:

WOW
"I’m delighted to be here, and I’m excited and honoured. Everything truly is special at AC Milan. You can breathe in the history, and you just want to come here. The initial talks started when I was away on international duty and, although it took a bit of time to get the agreement sorted, I made the decision to accept early on. I spoke to Pioli and got a real sense that he wanted to have me, and I’m grateful to him. For me, it’s a new start. I also spoke to a few members of the ownership. AC Milan are really well supported in the US; ever since I was a kid, I can remember the passion for these colours there."

WINNING
"I’ll try to help the team with the aim of winning trophies. I’ll be looking to grow and raise my level. I’ll have to learn a lot of things, including from a tactical perspective, but I can’t wait. It’ll be great to play in the Champions League in this shirt. Last season, I followed the great run the Rossoneri went on. Thanks to my time at Chelsea, I have experience in the competition. I’ll give everything."

THE NUMBER 11
"It’s a number I like. I know that a legend in the form of Ibrahimović wore it, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for me. I don’t want to compare myself to Ibra or fill the void left by such a great champion, but it was free and I chose it."

BACK TO THE PAST
"My last two seasons at Chelsea were complicated; for many reasons, I didn’t fully show what I can do. Now, I want to start afresh at a big Club. I spoke with Tomori, Giroud and Loftus-Cheek and have an excellent relationship with them. With a player like Giroud, there will be an excellent understanding out on the pitch."

THE ROSSONERI ATTACK AND LEÃO
"We have a very strong and competitive attack. In general, the team is full of talent. I’ll try to make a contribution in attack. I’ve often played out wide, especially on the right flank, but I can also cover other positions, like the attacking playmaker role. I’m a particularly strong dribbler, which helps me provide assists and score. It’ll be a pleasure to have Leão as a teammate; he’s just incredible."
