AT THE BREAK: AN IMPRESSIVE PATH

Top of the league and draws in Europe: the tally at the second international break of the season

If the start was ideal, so was the rest of the Rossoneri’s path towards the international break, with AC Milan winning 21 points of the 24 available after 8 league games. Certainly an encouraging number. It is a record-breaking start for Pioli’s team, the second-best start to the season for AC Milan, after 2021/22, since three points were introduced for a win.

7 games in just over 20 days. An intense period full of diverse and challenging matches. What has been clear in the time between the two international breaks is the value and spirit of this AC Milan group, united and motivated. After the brutal defeat in the derby after the break in mid-September, they responded with the right attitude in every training session and every game. Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan reacted like a true squad and responded on the pitch.

Victories against Hellas Verona, Cagliari and Lazio cumulated in the latest win, in a rollercoaster ride of a game at Genoa that allows the Rossoneri to “clock off” with a high morale. There are many positive elements to look back on, from the defense that protected the goal 5 times, to the attack that still inspires. Speaking of, the Rossoneri have scored in every game so far this Serie A season and can count three players that have been involved in at least 5 goals: Leão, Giroud and Pulisic.

Different, if only a little, the European games. On the first two matchdays of the Champions League, the Rossoneri recorded two goalless draws in Group F. First against Newcastle and then against Borussia Dortmund, but AC Milan may have deserved better. Despite the results, the 180 minutes of European action have given more indications of what the Rossoneri can do. On the restart, there will be battle on all fronts: from one side the two meetings with PSG that could block the road to qualification for the Round of 16, and from the other the two big games against Juventus and Napoli that will be important for this season’s ambitions. Before that, however, it’s time to celebrate what has been done so far, then it will be time to head out onto the pitch in search of our dreams.
