The 2022 World Cup Final will be Argentina v France, scheduled for Sunday 18 December at 16:00 CET. After Argentina's win over Croatia in the first semi-final, the current reigning champions have reached the final stage beating the tournament's surprise package, Morocco, 2-0. France's early games in Qatar saw a strong Rossoneri influence, and the match at Al Bayt Stadium was no exception. Theo Hernández broke the deadlock with a great left-footed strike from inside the area after only 4 minutes and 39 seconds, in what was his first World Cup goal, and a second international one for the French. Kolo Muani's goal in the 79th minute eventually sealed victory against a spirited Morocco side.
The goal by the Rossoneri full-back is the fastest in a World Cup semi-final since 1958, and is the seventh goal scored by an AC Milan player in this year's tournament, after four by Olivier Giroud (who came close to adding to his total after hitting the post against Morocco) and two by Rafael Leão. Furthermore, Theo is the fourth Rossoneri to have netted in a World Cup semi-final, after Rivera and Schnellinger in 1970 and Kluivert in 1998. Hernández and Giroud now enter the Rossoneri history books becoming the first two players to reach a World Cup final since Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in 2010, and will be looking to be placed alongside our ten other World Cup winners: Pietro Arcari (1934); Franco Baresi and Fulvio Collovati (1982); Marcel Desailly (1998); Roque Júnior (2002); Gennaro Gattuso, Alberto Gilardino, Filippo Inzaghi, Alessandro Nesta and Andrea Pirlo (2006).
