LEÃO CELEBRATES TOO ON PORTUGAL'S NIGHT: 6-1

Rafa comes on at the end of the win over Switzerland and scores a great goal, his second at Qatar 2022

Three Rossoneri will be involved in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup: Olivier Giroud and Theo Hernández were joined by Rafael Leão and his Portugal side, who cruised to a 6-1 victory over Switzerland in the last match of the Round of 16 in Qatar. At the Lusail Stadium - also the venue for the final on Sunday, 18 December - the Portuguese took the lead in the first half, which ended 2-0 with goals from Gonçalo Ramos and Pepe. Santos' team then stormed ahead in the second half, with two more goals from Ramos and one from Guerreiro - Akanji scoring for Switzerland - before the final goal from Leão, who came on in the 87th minute to replace Bruno Fernandes and ended up on the scoresheet with a splendid right-footed shot.

For the Rossoneri's number 17, it was his second goal at World Cup 2022, following his goal against Ghana in the group stage: a 100 per cent success rate for Rafa, who has scored from both of his attempts on goal so far in Qatar. Leão also has the second highest average goal per minute played in the entire World Cup (one goal every 31 minutes). Standing between Portugal and the semi-finals is Morocco, who, after surprisingly eliminating Spain (3-0 on penalties), will take on Rafa and his teammates on Saturday 10 December at 16:00 CET.
