DEST AND THE US ELIMINATED FROM THE WORLD CUP

Sergiño Dest and the United States’ World Cup journey has come to an end in the round of 16, with the Netherlands running out 3-1 winners at the Khalifa International Stadium in the match that kicked off the knockout stage at Qatar 2022. The Rossoneri full-back produced a solid display, getting involved in ten duels (Cristian Pulisic, with eleven, was the only US player to engage in more) and attempting five dribbles (the highest number in the match) during the 75 minutes he spent on the pitch.

In the first World Cup of his career, Dest was the US player who attempted (twelve) and completed (five) the most dribbles across the four matches his country played against Wales, England, Iran and the Netherlands. Two more round of 16 matches are set to be played today, and both involve Rossoneri players: at 16:00 CET, Giroud and Hernández’s France will face Poland, while Ballo-Touré’s Senegal will then come up against England at 20:00 CET.
