4 JUNE 1989: FOUR IN THE BARCELONA FINAL
Coach Sacchi's Rossoneri returned to San Siro for the first time since their Champions Cup victory on 24 May 1989: 4-0 the final result against Steaua Bucharest in the final in Barcelona. The top of the league was no longer within reach, but on matchday 31 of Serie A, AC Milan hosted Nils Liedholm's Roma to close out a season to remember. Three minutes had passed and Tassotti opened the scoring with a left-footer under the crossbar, before Daniele Massaro equalised in the 40th minute. At the start of the second half, Tempestilli's own goal opened the door wide for AC Milan, who extended the lead with van Basten in the 56th minute and closed the scoring with Captain Baresi's goal.
25 OCTOBER 1998: THE ROSSONERI COME BACK AND REVIVE
Matchday 6 of Serie A 1998/99. Zeman's Roma came to San Siro on 10 points, one more than Zaccheroni's Rossoneri who had started the season poorly, suffering two defeats in their first five games. Delvecchio put the visitors ahead via an assist from Totti in the 9th minute, and the Giallorossi went close to doubling the score on several occasions in the first half-hour. On the stroke of half-time, however, came the Rossoneri's equaliser, with Leonardo's left-footed shot beating Chimenti. The interval regenerated AC Milan, who were kept alive at the start of the second half thanks to a penalty saved by Rossi from Totti, who turned the game around with Ziege's first goal of the season. Delvecchio scored a brace and equalised in the 70th minute, but two minutes later George Weah's header made the Rossoneri fans erupt. The end was tense and both teams finished with 10 men, but the result did not change: AC Milan won 3-2 and revitalised their ambitions.
2 MAY 2004: SHEVA'S FLASH, AC MILAN CROWNED CHAMPIONS
A match worth the Scudetto: at San Siro - on the third-to-last matchday of the season - first and second in the table faced each other. The Rossoneri approached the match with a considerable advantage over their rivals, and Shevchenko - future top scorer of the competition - needed just over a minute to break the deadlock and give AC Milan Scudetto number 17. The Ukrainian striker's header, assisted by Kaká, was enough to kill off Roma and start the celebrations for Ancelotti's AC Milan.
24 MARCH 2012: IBRA'S DOUBLE SPURS ON AC MILAN
On matchday 29 of Serie A, the Rossoneri hosted the Capitolini before facing Barcelona in the Champions League. AC Milan got off to a strong start and put Roma on the ropes, creating multiple chances. The post hit by El Shaarawy in the 40th minute spared Luis Enrique's side, who score with their first chance through Osvaldo, a minute before half-time. In the second half, the Rossoneri's momentum bore fruit as Ibrahimović converted from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute and levelled the match, sealing the comeback in the 83rd minute with a magical strike of his own.
31 AUGUST 2018: CUTRONE LAST-MINUTE WINNER
Gattuso's AC Milan faced Roma on the third day of the season. Throughout the first half, the Rossoneri were in control of the pitch and stepped on the accelerator, finding a deserved lead in the 40th minute thanks to Franck Kessie's goal assisted by Rodriguez. Roma improved at the start of the second half, and Fazio found the equaliser in the 59th minute. In the final minutes, the Rossoneri attacked Olsen's goal, and the Cutrone-Higuaín tandem produced the winning goal: the Argentine's filtering pass and the number 63's clinical right-footed strike, San Siro rejoiced and AC Milan took all three points.
