TORINO v AC MILAN: TIME MACHINE

22 February 2003: Seedorf and Inzaghi spur Ancelotti's AC Milan to victory away at the Granata

The away trip to Turin concludes October for the Rossoneri. Sandwiched between the game away at Dinamo Zagreb and at home to FC Salzburg to conclude group E in the Champions League, the Rossoneri travel to the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino to take on Ivan Jurić's Granata. Away days against the Toro have always been tricky for AC Milan, so let's take a look back at the league game in 2002/03 with the latest edition of Time Machine.

SETTING THE SCENE
22 February 2003
, Serie A matchday 22 at the Stadio delle Alpi. In the reverse fixture earlier in the season, the Rossoneri thrashed their opponents 6-0 with goals from Pirlo, Serginho, an Inzaghi hattrick and Fattori's own-goal. The Granata were bottom of the league going into it, while the Rossoneri were chasing top spot following a poor run of results.

ROSSONERI ON TOP
Milan took the lead after just two minutes. Seginho brought the ball forward and played it to Maldini; our captain pick out Inzaghi in space in the box, and Pippo fired home. Seedorf made his mark on the game late in the half; in the 43rd minute, the Dutch midfielder beat Manninger with a stunning free-kick. Five minutes later, Clarence got his second after he beat two defenders in the box before sticking it past the Granata goalie.

DOMINANCE AND THE GAME SUSPENDED
Ancelotti's side were well in control after the break too; Torino were on the ropes and couldn't deal with the Rossoneri's firepower. However, the referee brought the game to a halt in the 64th minute due to disorder from the home supporters. The sporting judge ruled that the result on the pitch (3-0 to Milan) be upheld, and the Rossoneri went on to finish the season in third place in Serie A but also as European champions after victory in the final in Manchester.
