It was August 2017 and the ownership of AC Milan had changed hands a few months prior. The Club had been under new management and had had a new board since the final weeks of the 2016/17 season. Many games had been played and a few goals had been scored.
But it was when the new season season started, under new ownership, that the fans began to realise that something really had chnaged, that something had finished and something else was just beginning. This hapened to coincide with the first home game of that season. And in 2017/18, than took the form of AC Milan v Cagliari.
Vincenzo Montella's team took on Rastelli's Cagliari. The Rossoneri had looked strong in their Europa League qualifiers and had won on their trip to Crotone; they should have had enough to see of the Sardinians too. Patrick Cutrone's goal after just ten minutes looked to have proved that, but the match turned out to be far more difficult. AC Milan couldn't double their lead and Cagliari equalised before half time.
It was Suso who, twenty minutes from time, scored the winner. His free kick, which was taken from roughly the same spot as his goal against Palermo a few months before, made it 2-1.
