The Rossonere’s final pre-season friendly ended with a big win over Napoli and the side is now ready for the opening league match at 12:30 CEST next Sunday at Roma. 5-0 was the final score thanks to two goals from Valentina Giacinti in the first half before Tucceri, Salvatori Rinaldi and Žigić struck in the second. It was a convincing display from Ganz’s side who took the lead two minutes in and were in command through.
Latest signing Jane Refiloe had a positive debut, starting in front of the defence in a 4-1-4-1 formation. Following the matches against Lugano, Zurich, Cittadella and Como, it was the fifth pre-season work for the Rossonere who only lost to Paris Saint-Germain. Serious business begins shortly at 12:30 CEST on Sunday 15th September at Roma’s Tre Fontane venue in the Serie A opener.
MATCH REPORT
Milan took the lead right at the start. In the first minute, Lady Andrade won a penalty which Valentina Giacinti stepped up to score. The goal immediately galvanised the Rossonere who took control of midfield and had further chances to double the lead with two opportunities falling for Giacinti. Bergamaschi and Lady Andrade were causing real problems for the Napoli defence. In the 32nd minute, Milan were awarded a second penalty for a clear handball. Giacinti scored her second penalty in the same fashion as the first.
The third goal came after the break from a Linda Tucceri Cimini cross-cum-shot that avoided all inside the area as it found the net. Ganz gave practically all of his squad playing time. After the tempo dropped, Milan pressed on the accelerator once again late on with Deborah Salvatori Rinaldi making it 4-0 before Sandra Žigić wrapped things up at 5-0.
