AC Milan lined up in a 4-3-3 formation with the following players: Korenciova in goal; Rizza, Vitale, Mendes and Tucceri in defence; Heroum, Fusetti, Conc in midfield; Zigic, Giacinti (captain) and Bergamaschi up front.

At the Comunale di Taverne, the Rossonere recorded a 1-0 win in a highly intense affair from the off. The decisive goal came in the 16th minute through Valentina Giacinti, the team's new captain. Maurizio Ganz's team continued to look well-organised in the second half, when the Coach made a number of changes to give the players on the bench some game time: from Hovland, Manieri and Salvatori Rinaldi through to Piazza and young new arrival Tamborini. Also to be noted is Tucceri hitting the post from a free kick and Giacinti striking the bar after the break. Despite a few threatening moves from Lugano, the result was never in doubt.
Aside from the result, the friendly allowed the girls to get up to match speed and take on a high-quality opponent straight away. Now, the Rossonere will have two days of rest before returning to training on Tuesday 13 August. On Thursday 15 August, the team will depart for Olten, where they'll take part in the Womens Cup 2019. Their opening fixture in this tournament will be on Friday 16 August at 17:30 CEST.
