FONDAZIONE MILAN FOR ROMAGNA: AC SOLAROLO REOPENS ITS SPORTS CENTRE

AC Milan and Fondazione Milan, together with AC Monza, aid in the refurbishment of two fields damaged by the flooding

Always conscious of the main social issues and crises in Italy and worldwide, AC Milan and Fondazione Milan continue to promote initiatives to support the Romagna population affected by the severe flooding last spring.

As part of this assistance, this afternoon saw the reopening ceremony of AC Solarolo's sports centre. The amateur football association is located in the province of Ravenna and has around 100 players on its books, including 80 players in its youth sector. This reopening was made possible by the collaboration between AC Milan and AC Monza, with support from Fondazione Milan, who helped refurbish a training pitch and a playing field damaged by the flooding.

In fact, following the first edition of the Trofeo Silvio Berlusconi, the two clubs auctioned off match-worn shirts decorated with a special patch. The funds were provided to Fondazione Milan, who then used them to support the restoration of the sports centre. The General Secretary of Fondazione Milan, Rocco Giorgianni, the Marketing Director of AC Monza, Francesco Bevilacqua, the President of AC Solarolo, Marco Mengozzi, and the mayor of Solarolo, Stefano Briccolani, were all in attendance to celebrate the reopening.

Rocco Giorgianni, the General Secretary of Fondazione Milan, stated: "The reopening of the AC Solarolo sports centre brings a meeting place back to the community and young people affected by the flooding, as well as an educational space where they can grow and achieve their dreams. The joint support of AC Milan and AC Monza, alongside the commitment of Fondazione Milan, constitutes a fine example of collaboration off the pitch, promoting sporting values through actions of solidarity".

The Deputy Vice President and CEO of AC Monza, Adriano Galliani, commented: "This initiative fills our hearts with joy because we are giving back to the community of Solarolo, a significant place that allows young people to grow through the healthy values of sports. President Silvio Berlusconi would be proud to see how his two beloved teams have joined forces and worked in synergy on a project that restores the possibility of dreaming with football."

"AC Solarolo Calcio, its President, and the entire staff would like to express their gratitude to Fondazione Milan, AC Milan, and AC Monza for the dedication shown towards our organization," added AC Solarolo President Marco Mengozzi, "and for the solidarity demonstrated in actions and deeds in our time of greatest need, that of reconstruction. Their commitment has enabled us to rebuild two sports fields used by our youngsters. This tremendous support has once again allowed our children to play on a football pitch, and for this, the entire organization and the community of our small town will always be thankful to you."

Stefano Briccolani, Mayor of Solarolo, stated: "The municipal administration of Solarolo expresses its profound gratitude to Fondazione Milan, AC Milan, and AC Monza, who from the very beginning have worked diligently to concretely assist our sports community, making it possible to have this sports season even after such a devastating event as the flood on May 17th."

This initiative, which is part of the "Assist" program by Fondazione Milan, is just one of many that the Rossoneri family has promised to the region over the previous months. In June, the Club and its Academies sent a message of support to those affected by the flooding with the Milan Cup in Cattolica, the tournament and celebration of the Rossoneri Football Schools. During the event, Fondazione Milan promised to participate in a fund-raising campaign that took place in September. The Special Camp, a sporting experience of fun and training in collaboration with Forlì FC and the Forlì municipality, was dedicated to 160 children from local clubs affected by the flooding.
