CHRISTIAN PULISIC: OUR FOCUS

His career, numbers and characteristics: let's get to know the American winger better

Christian Pulisic is now part of the Rossoneri universe. After arriving in Milan from London, where he played for Chelsea, the talented US striker is ready to begin a new adventure. His dribbling skills (both in tight spaces and when charging forward at speed) and his versatility are two of his standout characteristics. Christian is able to play in several positions in attack: he started out as a winger on both flanks but, over the course of his career, has been deployed as an attacking playmaker and a second striker. Standing 1.78 m tall, Pulisic has excellent technical qualities and can shoot with both feet. Through his speed and dribbling ability, he's able to provide plenty of assists, but he certainly also has an eye for goal. The 24-year-old will add creativity and unpredictability to the Rossoneri's attack.

Born on 18 September 1998 in Hershey, an American town with just under 15,000 inhabitants in the state of Pennsylvania, Christian has Croatian origins. After taking his first steps as a player in England with Brackley Town, he returned to Pennsylvania and joined a local club in the form of PA Classics. In January 2015, he moved to Borussia Dortmund, where he was initially assigned to the U17 side before impressing and eventually becoming part of the first-team setup. On 30 January 2016, he made his competitive debut as a professional in a 2-0 victory away to Ingolstadt in the Bundesliga. He then started to feature in the starting line-up and went on to bag his first goal on 17 April against Hamburg.

After 19 goals and 26 assists in 127 appearances for the Schwarzgelben, he signed for Chelsea in January 2019, although he spent a further six months on loan at Borussia. He scored his first goals for Chelsea on 26 October, bagging a perfect hat-trick - he netted with his head, his right foot and his left foot - away to Burnley in the Premier League. Pulisic became a European Champion in 2021, coming on in the Blues' 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the final. Prior to this, he'd scored and provided an assist across two legs in the semis against Real Madrid. With seven goals to his name, he’s currently the most prolific American in Champions League history. During his time at Chelsea, he made 145 appearances, scored 26 times and registered 21 assists.

In addition to the aforementioned Champions League triumph, Pulisic also won the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup as a Chelsea player. At Dortmund, meanwhile, he got his hands on the DFB-Pokal. At international level, he's the spearhead of the so-called American Golden Generation. He made his debut for his country in March 2016 and has since gone on to score 25 goals and provide 16 assists in 60 appearances. Welcome, Christian!
