A great two-legged win to gain access to the quarter-finals. AC Milan's Under 16 side now turn their attention to the next round, having got through the Round of 16 test against Udinese with a thumping win, after the first leg (7-0) and the second leg (5-0).
An overwhelming scoreline, especially in light of the fact that the Friuliani had inflicted one of the U16s two defeats in the season on Coach Baldo's side during the regular season. "We played excellently in the Round of 16, beyond our expectations," said the Rossoneri coach. "The team have impressed me with their determination and approach."
The young Rossoneri's side is composed largely of boys who won the Under 15s Scudetto last season. The Coach underlines how this could be a factor in the latter stages of the season: "The group is probably used to playing these kind of matches, having won the title last year. Despite the absence of Sala and Liberali, who are now with the Under 17s, they want to show that they are still strong and competitive."
Now the preparation begins for the quarter-final against Empoli, who eliminated Bologna in the Round of 16: "We have to keep working and pushing, with a calm attitude and without anxiety or stress," Baldo concludes. "I am really satisfied with the boys, who have been preparing for the matches well and then approach these games with the right attitude. In the quarter-finals we will do our best, the team has improved a lot in recent months, and we want to keep moving forward."
