UNDER-14s, ON THE WAY TO GLORY

The Rossoneri are just one game away from league victory after a tenth straight win

Fourteen matches without a defeat, fourteen like the age of the Rossoneri's Youth Sector capable of achieving such good results, now just a step away from the finishing line. Coach Merlo's Under-14s, after the victory in the derby against Inter, have picked up another trio of convincing victories. Victories that, on top of the previous ones, extend the overall tally to ten consecutive successes.

And so, with one day to go, all that remains is to try and praise the 2009 class' season: keeping first place in the league would in fact guarantee access to the interregional phase. The advantage over the pursuing Nerazzurri is only two points, and the Rossoneri will travel to face a good Monza side on the last - and decisive - matchday. The Brianzoli occupy the third position in the table, just six points behind leaders AC Milan, and they have already beaten the Rossoneri this season, 3-2 in the home fixture.

"I'm happy with how this season is going because, even though we are AC Milan, it's never a given that we will succeed, especially at this age group. It's very satisfying," commented Coach Merlo, in his assessment of the current year.

Not only in the table, though. Because the main objective is always the growth of the team: "The boys have grown and are continuing to improve, I have positive feedback both individually and as a group. If we also manage to be well-placed in the table it is obviously a bonus, but all this is the result of daily work and credit must be given to the boys who are committed: they listen and learn," added the Rossoneri coach.
