WOMEN'S PRIMAVERA: UNSTOPPABLE

Derby delight and top spot. Coach Corti: "The group makes the difference"

Not stopping now. The Women's Primavera passed their derby test with flying colours, winning 7-1 away in Sesto San Giovanni. Sevenius scored four and Bahlouli three as the Rossonere claimed sole control of top spot, thanks also to Juventus' loss to Sassuolo.

"We didn't start the derby well, conceding straight away and we need to improve on that," said Coach Corti. "We nee to start games better but the girls reacted well and they gave it a go, doing just what we looked at during the week. They made use of the ball out wide. Oona and Nesrine brought that quality, which sets them apart."

The Rossonere have now won 9 straight games, 8 of which have been in 2023 and they are unbeaten in this calendar year. They're certainly on a great run, which is needed as the girls look ahead to the playoffs and the decisive part of the season.

"We're on a great run," Corti continued. "We've been riding this wave since the start of the year; the girls have developed a great mentality. They're all a lot more confident and the group benefits from that, which made the difference today. A lot of teams in the division are getting better; it'll be tough from now until the end of the season."
