UNDER-16s, REACTION AND LEADERSHIP

The Rossoneri are going into the new year with confidence and awareness

It’s Christmas Day in first place for Coach Simone Baldo's Under 16 team, who ended the first part of Group B firmly in command of the group. 24 points in 9 games, 8 wins and only one loss, 36 goals scored and only 9 conceded, two forwards in the top two places in the goalscorers' chart: Camarda on 10 goals, Liberali on 9.

The group that ended last year as the Under-15 champions is proving its value this season as well, under the leadership of Simone Baldo, who took over from Ignazio Abate. Only one defeat in the Derby on 19 November, followed by an important reaction. A 2-1 victory at Udinese and subsequent goal fest against Südtirol, 7-0. It was the right and necessary response after the loss in the Derby, following which Coach Baldo had criticised his team: "I hope this defeat will be motivation for the next matches."

The end-of-year comments from the Rossoneri coach are full of satisfaction and at the same time of awareness with respect to the work that awaits the team in 2023: "2022 is a year that these boys will hardly forget: in June they became U15 Italian Champions. Since we have been working together, so since August, the feedback I have for them is absolutely positive and I am more than satisfied."

"There is still a lot to work on because the main goal remains the growth of the boys," the coach continued, "but I have seen even those who play less improve. Some have been training with the U17s, others even with the Primavera. Our job is to train them and help them reach their full potential." The U16's journey will start again on Sunday 22 January at the PUMA House of Football against Hellas Verona.
