UNDER 17, DERBY VICTORY IN RIMONTA

Coach Lantignotti's boys came back from the double Inter advantage and triumphed 4-2 in the derby.

Mission complete. The Under 17s had to quickly forget the defeat they suffered on the previous matchday at the hands of Hellas Verona, and they did it in the best possible way, winning a spectacular derby against the top-of-the-table Inter team. Credit to our boys for having the strength to overturn with a sensational performance a match that had immediately become an uphill battle.

Inter opened the scoring at the PUMA House of Football, finding the advantage at the first opportunity with a deft finish by Pinotti in the 9th minute. The Nerazzurri then doubled their lead in the 26th minute through De Pieri, who capitalised on a team counter-attack. The Milanese pressure finally succeeded in bringing benefits and Sia's double at the end of the half - penalty and low shot - brought the contest back to parity

The hosts completed the comeback in the second half with a goal from a real attacking threat by Martinazzi, before a thrilling final few minutes. Inter wasted Mosconi's chance to equalise, being denied the joy of a goal from the penalty spot by Rugginenti. Bonomi finally put the icing on the cake by closing out the match at the end of the period with a beautiful free kick

The resounding 4-2 final result rewarded the positive approach of a Milan team that, from the very beginning, always tried to push Inter back into its own half, maintaining a high defensive line and attacking in numbers. The style of play of the Rossoneri's U17 team was bringing out the offensive skills of individuals, allowing Lantignotti to deploy players who were very good at attacking such as Scotti, Bonomi, Martinazzi and Sia.

AC Milan thus won a derby that will remain etched in the memory of its players for a long time and boosted themselves in the standings. The Rossoneri rose to 10 points, bringing them close to the Playoff zone, while Inter suffered their first defeat of the season, being hooked at the top by Hellas Verona. The team is now waiting for the away match in Venice on Sunday, where it will be important to continue to score a lot and try to protect Rugginenti's goal in order to make further progress in quality.

"The derby was exciting and exhilarating from many points of view," said Rossoneri coach Lantignotti. "We got off to a flying start, creating many scoring chances and even at the half-hour mark we found ourselves two goals down. The boys, however, never gave up, they stayed in the game and believed in it until the end. We never stopped controlling the game and pressing, even after the deserved lead. I'm satisfied even beyond the result, because we played a strong match in many aspects, starting with the game where we managed to impose our will and our qualities".
