"ALL THE COLOURS OF SPORT": MEETINGS CONTINUE

In the initiative's second meeting of the season, promoted as part of the RespAct Manifesto, Florenzi and Gabbia met the students of the Russell-Fontana Institute in Garbagnate Milanese

On Tuesday 8 February, the second "All the colours of sport" meeting out of this season's series was held. Created by AC Milan in association with Banco BPM in order to bring to life the Club's vision and commitment to sharing the positive values of sport and combating all forms of prejudice and discrimination, expressed through the publication of the RespAct Manifesto for social equity, equality and inclusiveness.

On this occasion, men's First Team players Alessandro Florenzi and Matteo Gabbia met students from the Bertrand Russell High School in Garbagnate Milanese via live stream from the Milanello Sports Centre. They discussed topics of personal growth, inclusivity and gender equality with the students on the call.

"Like school," said Florenzi, "football has taught me to be part of a group and to always have respect for my teammates, the coach and my opponents, in victory as well as defeat"

Regarding the evolution of the dressing rooms into actual inclusion hubs, Gabbia added: "It is very nice to share the changing room with teammates of different nationalities because you have the opportunity to discover so many different cultures, even simply in the way you eat or the way you spend your time during a trip. You always manage to come together as a group and create harmony."

On the women's football movement, finally, the two both echoed the same message: "It has come so far in recent years and it doesn't surprise us, but it makes us happy. Just as we are not surprised to see a female referee officiating a men's football match: you always have to look at merit, not gender."

The initiative, which will see further meetings between students and professionals at the club during this season, is part of RespAct's Education wider trajectory and aim to equip the younger generation with the tools and awareness needed to recognise the fundamentals on which a better future can be built.
