LEÃO IS THE MVP FROM FIORENTINA v AC MILAN

A goal and assist for Rafa on his 200th Rossoneri appearance

His 200th appearance was a worldly performance. Rafael Leão returns from Florence with victory for his team, a goal, an assist and the MVP award, as voted for by the Rossoneri fans on the AC Milan Official App. With 57% of the votes, the Portuguese came ahead of Maignan, Chukwueze and Loftus-Cheek; not a bad return from the break, after also scoring for Portugal.

His goalscoring record this season, in all competitions, now goes to eleven goals and eleven assists. On a special night in Florence, he found goal number five and assist number eight, considering just Serie A fixtures. It's a good moment for him, with already seven goals in 2024 (plus one for the national team) and confidence is growing game by game. In the first half at the Franchi, Terracciano denied him several times, but had no chance following the number 10's fine dribbling run in the 53rd minute.

Another couple of interesting stats: with the assist to Loftus-Cheek, Rafa is now the third player to provide at least eight assists in each of his last three seasons in Europe’s top-five leagues, after Mohamed Salah and Julian Brandt. Furthermore, he now has four career goals against Fiorentina in Serie A, thus becoming his favourite victim in the competition, joint with Lecce.

It's a positive run that can now move onto the team from Salento, our next opponents. The reverse fixture left him with a muscle injury, which caused him to miss the Champions League game with Borussia Dortmund, while last year at San Siro, against Lecce, he starred by grabbing a great double. Keep it up, Rafa!
