TOMORI IS THE MVP FROM AC MILAN v NEWCASTLE

The English defender was voted as the best player on the pitch in the draw at San Siro

On a goalless evening at San Siro, Fikayo Tomori, after coming back into the side following suspension, stood out from the pack, putting on a flawless defensive display to make an instant impact on his return. The English centre-half, against his compatriats of Newcastle, gave nothing away to the visitors, nullifying the dangerous Isak. In fact, the Swede found himself constrained to dropping deep and playing far from the goal, with Fik always sniffing around him ready to defend aggressively.

This is the Tomori we all love and know and who, in a game where no side could find a breakthrough, closed out every space available, allowing the forward pressure to be maintained. Lining up on the left-hand side of the central pairing, he reaffirmed his good understanding with Thiaw, who is slowly becoming the Englishman's regular, trusty partner.

Tomori's performance was awarded by the Rossoneri fans, who voted him as being the best player on the pitch against the Magpies, winning almost 60% of the vote ahead of Loftus-Cheek, Musah and Florenzi, who came on at half-time with the bit between his teeth. Fikayo's game was also notable for several aspects: his all-round defensive display, with nine ball recoveries and many well-timed clearances.

Instead, on the ball, he was accurate in finding his teammates, with a 100% successful pass rate, 52/52, in both long and short passes. In every situation, it is necessary to always look at the positives and the Englishman's level of performance is great news for the Rossoneri. With this concentration and accuracy, many great things will happen: keep it going, Fik.
