He showed what he could do at Bologna, and repeated it tonight at San Siro, leaving more than 72,000 fans with mouths wide open in amazement. With the number 11 on his back, Christian Pulisic moves to two goals in Serie A: against Torino, he finished off a stunning move he started with friend and former Chelsea teammate Loftus-Cheek. His night didn't stop there though, with some excellent moves, fast accelerations with the ball, delicate touches and a shift put in to boot.
The stats also tell its own story: if he was the first American to score in a Serie A debut in the opening day win at Bologna, his goal at San Siro makes him the fifth AC Milan player to score in both his first two appearances in Serie A in the three-points-for-a-win era (since 1994/95), after Oliver Bierhoff, Andriy Shevchenko, Mario Balotelli and Jérémy Ménez.
Often looked for, and found, he linked up well with his teammates - see the combination with Leão at the start of the second half - without ever letting up. He played the full 90 minutes, took on the role of breaking the deadlock and always played with his head up and with character. There were many great things inside that opening goal: receiving the ball from Tomori and breaking away, then the pass for Loftus-Cheek, but he didn't stop his run and carried on into the box to find himself placed perfectly to tap home.
The stadium applauded; he smiled. For the second game running, he scored and is voted the MVP by a landslide, with 52% of the votes ahead of Theo and Oli. And to end, the joy of hearing a chant for him: "Oooooh, Christian Pulisic...". Keep it going, Chris!
