GIROUD IS THE MVP FROM AC MILAN V FC SALZBURG

After scoring twice, the Frenchman is voted as the best player on a special night

He is the man who makes the difference when called upon. Olivier Giroud has once again led this AC Milan side, grabbing a brace to give the Rossoneri a passage through to the Champions League Last 16. He broke the deadlock inside the opening quarter of an hour with a perfectly-placed header, before smashing home with his deadly left foot to seal victory after the break. In AC Milan's 4-0 win over FC Salzburg, Oli played a major part.

It wasn't only his goals, as the number nine managed to get in-between the Austrian defence. He dominated in the air, set up his teammates - particularly of note was his contribution in the third goal - and also provided further assists for the second, scored by Krunić, and for Messias, who made it 4-0. The centre-forward was voted the best player on the field by Rossoneri supporters through the Official AC Milan App.

A central focal point in the Rossoneri attack, Giroud has now got eight goals for the season, four of those in Europe's top competition. Furthermore, the 36-year-old Frenchman is also the oldest player to have been involved in at least three goals in a single Champions League match.

Giroud came out on top with over 52% of the vote, ahead of teammates Ismaël Bennacer, Theo Hernández and Rafael Leão. Well done Oli!
